Promotional invitations for select events within H&K
Standard design for online invitations pertaining to various in-person events, which doubled as handouts, flyers, announcements, and promotional material for webinars within the firm. I created several original designs for H&K that were used as templates and adhered to strict brand guidelines.

Challenge
Adhering to brand standards while creating visually engaging material
Law firms are strict on branding guidelines, therefore designing visually engaging evites for H&K required a solid understanding of the fundamentals of design, composition and color theory, as well as ample creativity when crafting the language within each announcement, so as to make it engaging while complying with regulations.
Once a draft was approved, the appropriate HTML code was created, accounting for any discrepancies. The HTML for each evite needed to closely imitate the appearance of the original Word document draft while addressing limitations and errors that Outlook might have introduced. After the evites were sent, they often needed to be converted into forwardable versions for the firm’s lawyers and staff to resend. This process frequently resulted in minor discrepancies due to the emails not being sent through the internal distribution system, which required additional attention to ensure users receiving a forwardable directly from employees could still RSVP for events as needed.
All designs were initiated using a Microsoft Word document that more or less served as a draft for what the finalized design will look like, barring minor spacing and hyperlink discrepancies. This was done to ensure that lawyers who might not have technical knowledge of HTML or design software could easily mark edits to the file during the initial phases of each process.
Outcome and Reflection
While most designs adhered to similar patterns and were often constrained by branding guidelines, the designs I created at H&K were successfully implemented, helping the firm gain much-needed traction for each event and generating interest. One of the most challenging aspects of the process was accounting for the limited functionality within the firm's mailing system regarding forwardables. This often required extensive back-and-forth communication with the marketing communications team to ensure quality.
